David Sierra, head coach of the Wagner College women’s and men’s fencing teams!

David, a Texas native, studied at Texas University and earned BS in biology and MS in cell and molecular biology. He has worked many years as a research scientist at Howard Hugh Medical Institute. Later lectured at Tarrant County College.

David is a well-known coach and referee of the USA Fencing. His fencing career started in 2000. In 2004, he founded Cutting Edge Fencing Center in Fort Worth, Tx. He run group sessions, gave private lessons and throughout the years, he developed champions in all age groups. He placed students on NCAA Fencing Teams like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Brandeis, Air Force and Stevens Institute of Technology. Unfortunately, COVID-19 hit hard, and he had no choice but to close.

David has been highly active at the USA Fencing since 2008. As volunteer he filled various positions like Board of Directors Member, Certified Referee Observer and Instructor. Presently, he is Referee Commission Domestic Assignment Committee member and at USFCA, he is Vice Chair of Certification and Accreditation Board.

Look for his various saber group practices and schedule private lessons. He is excited to teach our many youth fencers of ages 6 to 12 and he will also coach our teens and adults.
