Team Information

Our head coach and manager, Agota has more than 50 years of fencing and personal training experience in three countries: Hungary, Austria, and USA. Born in Budapest, daughter of Magda Nyari, five-time World Champion and Olympic Silver Medalist, she has spent her entire life with fencing. She started the Academy in 1999 and trained hundreds of fencers in all three weapons. Her athletes reached numerous national finals and reached the top of the podium, among them youth fencers Alexx Sowuleski, Nicole Vaiani, and veteran fencer Sally Higgins. Agota had been the head coach of the Ranney School’s varsity fencing team for ten years. Many times their fencers stood on the top of the podium at NJSIAA and NJISAA championship events. Besides managing the club and coaching, Agota is still actively competing. At the World Veteran Fencing Championships 2018 Livorno and 2019 Cairo, she earned bronze medals in the epee event. Agota lives in Tinton Falls with her husband, Robert, and their three playful dogs.
